Director
Nydia Padilla-Rodriguez created the Borinquen
Dance Theatre in 1981 as part of the Puerto Rican Arts and
Cultural Center in Rochester New York. A former member of the
Bottom of the Bucket Dance company, Ms Padilla-Rodriguez studied
under internationally known Tony Award winner Garth Fagan. Since
1984 Ms Padilla-Rodriguez has taught a course in Caribbean Dance
at the David Hochstein Memorial Music School. Ms.
Padilla-Rodriguez holds a BA. in Dance/Elementary Education and
a Master of Science in Education. She also holds a position as
Assistant Principal at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, elementary
School #9, Rochester, NY.

York's finest hispanic dance company with over twenty years of existence.
Borinquens expressive program excites the senses with the rich blend of African,
Taino Indian, and Spanish influences which make up the Puerto Rican Culture.
This ensemble captures the Latino roots through the power of compelling African
rhythms and the passion of the Taino Indians
