In addition to being an accomplished and versatile saxophonist and woodwind player, Bill Tiberio is a music educator. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of public music education, and has been at Fairport (NY) high school for 16 years. At Fairport, Bill conducts the top Concert Band, two jazz ensembles, jazz combos, pit orchestras, chamber ensembles, and teaches woodwinds throughout the district. He is the former president of the NY State Chapter of the International Association of Jazz Educators, and is on the summer jazz faculty for the Eastman Community Music School high school program and the founder and director of the Hochstein School of Music summer jazz camp. Bill is also a regular faculty member for the Tritone Jazz Fantasy Camps, held in Rochester in the summer. He is the founder and conductor of the Eastman Community Music School High School Chamber Winds, and was recently appointed to conduct the University of Rochester Wind Symphony.

Bill is a frequent guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator for both jazz and concert honor groups and festivals throughout NY State. He is active in the Rochester music scene as a jazz saxophonist and woodwind player, and is comfortable with all styles of jazz from contemporary to Latin, and straight-ahead. Bill has performed with Fred Wesley, The Four Tops, the Temptations, Nestor Torres, Lou Gramm, and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and has shared the stage with Chuck Loeb, the Yellow jackets, Eileen Ivers, Jesse Cook, and Euge Groove. He is a founding member of the original contemporary soul group, The Bill Welch Band (see www.BillWelchBand.com), and is the saxophonist in the Spiritus Christi Gospel Choir.

Bill has been honored with notable recognition of his teaching. Among the awards he has received are the University of Rochester Excellence in Secondary Teaching Award, the Fairport High School Alumni Wall of Fame, The Rochester Philharmonic Outstanding Music Educator Award, the Crystal Apple Fairport High School faculty peer award, and has been selected by the students at Fairport High School as a commencement speaker and a yearbook dedication recipient.

He is joined by guitarist Melvin Henderson, who produced the recording, organist Gerry Youngman, drummer Ted Poor, vocalist Harold Pannell, and Latin percussionist Tony Padilla. Bill's second CD on the Trier Records label, entitled "Promise Street" has been released on January 20, 2005. Bill is again collaborating with Paradigm Shift, who is receiving national recognition for their debut CD on Nagel-Heyer Records entitled Shifting Times", which features Bill's saxophone artistry on several tunes.

Paradigm Shift's core personnel are guitarist Melvin Henderson and organist Gerry Youngman. In addition to being recognized for their playing, both men are gaining recognition for their original composition. As on Bill's first release "the story ends...the story begins", Melvin and Gerry have contributed all originals on "Promise Street'".

Melvin Henderson plays traditional and contemporary jazz guitar. His influences include George Benson, Grant Green and Wes Montgomery among others. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in the late-seventies, Melvin performed in Boston and New York with his own group the East West Band, which included Tommy Campbell on drums. In the early 80's Melvin toured and recorded with Al Jarreau, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, Cheryl Lynn, and Roy Ayers, to name just a few.

After returning to his hometown Rochester, NY, in the mid-eighties he opened up his own jazz club, Indigos. At Indigos, Melvin was able to present such jazz greats as Wynton Marsalis, Mel Lewis, Kenny Burrell, Joe Locke, Johnny Griffin, Barney Kessel, Joe Lovano, Mel Torme, and many more. After two years, during which Melvin had little time to perform, he closed Indigos and started playing full time again. In the following years Melvin shared the stage with such jazz greats as Jack McDuff, Clark Terry, David 'Fathead' Newman, Eric Alexander, Wycliffe Gordon, Fred Wesley, Bobby Militello, Joe Locke while continuing to compose and perform his own music.

Even though their paths had crossed many times before, Gerry Youngman, who attended Berklee College of Music as a trumpeter, joined forced with Melvin in the late 80's. Prior to attending Berklee, Gerry studied with Rochester's Chuck Mangione. While at Berklee, under the direction of Phil Wilson, Gerry performed with Claudio Roditti, Mark Elf, Hal Crook, and others in the Thursday Night Dues Band. Gerry has shared the stage as both a trumpeter and organist with many top names in the jazz world, including Lou Donaldson, Gerry Niewood, Chuck Mangione, Eric Alexander, David 'Fathead' Newman, Marcus Printup, Wycliffe Gordon, Joe Locke, Fred Wesley, Bobby Militello, Dave Samuels and the great Thad Jones. Gerry also contributes his original compositions to the bands repertoire.

The drummer on the recording 'the story ends...the story begins' is Ted Poor, Eastman School of Music graduate, who now resides in New York City. Ted's unique and engaging style of playing has been tapped by jazz musicians in every genre.

After Ted moved to New York City it was difficult finding a permanent drummer on the local scene, UNTIL the band heard of Jared Schonig. They invited Jared to perform with them for a show, and hired him on the spot.

Jared Schonig is a 20 year-old drummer originally from Los Angeles, California. Raised by two professional musicians Jared had the opportunity of attending an arts high school where he had the pleasure of performing with George Duke and Eric Marienthal. After moving to Rochester to attend Eastman at age 18, he quickly gained notoriety in the Rochester jazz scene, performing with Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Dave Liebman, and others.He currently is a member of the Dave Rivello Ensemble, Bob DiBaudo Trio, and Paradigm Shift Trio. Jared is also a winner of 7 Downbeat Studio Music Awards,

Although Harold Pannell is relatively new to jazz, his four-octave range has presence and power. Harold is comfortable in performing popular vocal tunes and traditional jazz standards. He has been influenced by such greats as Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Marvin Gaye, Will Downing and Kevin Mahagony. Harold's first CD release will be announced soon.
